Hello!
My name is Mary Beth Lee.
For me, interior design is an opportunity to create immersive worlds within the built environment. I am drawn to the idea that spaces can be expressive, emotional, and memorable, feeling more like experiences than interiors. I strive to create designs that leave users wide-eyed, inspired, and fully immersed.
I am a hands-on conceptual designer who believes strong ideas drive impactful spaces. Concept is the foundation of my design process; without it, a space may function but it lacks soul. I thrive most in the research and schematic phases, using culture, location, materials, and objects as inspiration to develop concepts rich in form, color, pattern, and spatial experience. Influenced by Jeanne Gang and Antoni Gaudí, I strive to push physical and visual boundaries to create organic, experiential, and otherworldly interiors.
I am most passionate about themed entertainment and workplace design. My experience in office environments sparked my desire to challenge traditional workplace norms through neuro-inclusive design that supports mental health and diverse sensory needs, as reflective in my senior thesis project. My passion for themed entertainment design is driven by my love for conceptual design and my desire to create interiors that go beyond functional. Additionally, the personal impact themed entertainment designs and experiences have had on my life have given me the desire to become a part of the creative development. While these two typologies may seem different, they coexist naturally within my design work. Overall, I strive to create expressive, experiential, and unforgettable spaces that users don’t just occupy, but remember.
